There is currently very little information available about Simple_Encoder Ransomware. However, it is believed to be a variant of the Locky Ransomware, which was first discovered in February 2016.
Simple_Encoder Ransomware likely spreads through email attachments or malicious links.
It is important to never open email attachments from unknown senders or click on links from untrustworthy websites. Also, be sure to have a reputable anti-malware program installed on your computer at all times to protect yourself from these types of threats. If you follow these prevention tips, you can greatly reduce the risk of being infected with Simple_Encoder or any other type of malware.
Simple_Encoder is a serious threat that can result in the loss of important files. If you are infected with this ransomware, it is important to remove it immediately and take steps to prevent future infections.
Ransom payment
The ransomware will probably demand that you pay the ransom in Bitcoin. Once you have paid the ransom, you will receive a decryption key that can be used to decrypt your files.
However, it is important to note that paying the ransom does not guarantee that your files will be successfully decrypted. In some cases, victims have paid the ransom but still were not able to recover their files.
Ransom amount
Simple_Encoder may demand a different ransom amount than other variants of Locky Ransomware. However, the average ransom amount is usually around 0.5 Bitcoin. But the amount can range from 0.5 to 5 Bitcoin.
File encryption
Simple_Encoder uses AES-128 and RSA-2048 encryption algorithms to encrypt victims’ files. Once the files have been encrypted, they will be renamed and given a new extension that is eight random characters long. For example, a file named “sample.jpg” would be renamed to “g897yiuj.locked” after it has been encrypted by Simple_Encoder Ransomware.
Once the encryption process is complete, Simple_Encoder will delete all shadow volume copies from the victim’s computer. This makes it more difficult to recover the files without paying the ransom.
Shadow Volume Copies are one of the features in Windows that allows you to restore files that have been accidentally deleted or lost. Simple_Encoder Ransomware deletes these copies so that victims cannot use them to recover their files.
Ransom note
After Simple_Encoder has encrypted the victim’s files, it will create a text file named “HELP_decrypt.txt” and place it in every folder that contains encrypted files. This text file contains the ransom note, which instructs victims on how to pay the ransom and decrypt their files.
The ransom note instructs victims to contact the attackers at one of the provided email addresses to get further instructions on how to pay the ransom. The note also states that the victim has 72 hours to make the payment, after which time the price will double.
It is important to never contact the attackers or attempt to pay the ransom. As we said before, there is no guarantee that you will get your files back even if you do pay, and there is a possibility that you could end up infecting your computer even more.
Instead, you should focus on removing Simple_Encoder from your computer and then try to recover your files from a backup.
How to remove it?
To remove Simple_Encoder Ransomware from your computer, you can use a reputable anti-malware program. We recommend using SpyHunter 5, which is a top-rated malware removal tool that can detect and remove Simple_Encoder and other threats.
If you do not have a backup of your files, there are some file recovery methods that you can try. However, these methods may not be successful in all cases.
File recovery
If it infected you, it is important to remove the malware immediately. Once you have removed the ransomware, you can try using file recovery software to recover your files. However, it is important to note that not all files can be recovered.
We recommend using SalvageData data recovery software. It is one of the most effective recovery tools available and has a success rate of over 96%.
Public decryption tool
At this time, there is no public decryption tool available for Simple_Encoder Ransomware.
However, you may be able to find a private decryption tool by searching online. But you should only use a private decryption tool if you are sure that it is safe and comes from a reputable source. There have been cases of fake decryption tools that infect the victim’s computer with more malware.
Contact a data recovery service
If you are not able to recover your files yourself, you can contact a professional data recovery service. These services have a high success rate in recovering files from Simple_Encoder and other types of ransomware. But, they can be quite expensive, so it is important to weigh your options before deciding on this method.
