What is JobCrypter Ransomware?

JobCrypter is a malware that encrypts your files and demands a ransom for the decryption key. It is a type of malicious software known as ransomware.

How does JobCrypter Ransomware work?

JobCrypter Ransomware uses the RSA-2048 encryption algorithm to encrypt your files. It then demands a ransom be paid in Bitcoin to decrypt your files. Attackers spread JobCrypter through email attachments and downloads from compromised websites. Once JobCrypter has encrypted your files, it will display a ransom note with instructions on how to pay the ransom.

Ransom note

The note will be named “!README!.txt” and will be located in every folder that contains encrypted files.

Ransom amount

The JobCrypter Ransomware will demand 1 Bitcoin. But the price may increase if the ransom is not paid within 24 hours.

The ransom note will also provide a link to a website where you can buy Bitcoin.

What types of files does JobCrypter Ransomware encrypt?

JobCrypter can encrypt a wide range of file types, including documents, spreadsheets, databases, and more.

This ransomware was first discovered in June 2016.
