Why not to use Synergy Data Recovery: 1) Very poor customer service. Lack of communication with the customer in a timely manner. Lack of urgency to respond to the customer for months on end. Will not return email or phone messages. 2) Promised to try an extra manual process to recover data. After six months, they are "still working on it". Either Synergy Data Recovery is working on the recovery or the company is not working on it. Again, no response to my inquiries. 3) I scheduled a time pickup my hardware with the front desk. I had a busy day so I blocked off the needed time to drive to Synergy for hardware pickup at the agreed to pickup time. Turn out the pickup time was during Synergy's lunch hour so no one was there to help me.

It pains me to say it, but until something changes I have to share that this company is a complete scam. Lots of communication up front until they took $1,000 for HD recovery and then radio silent for the last six months. I have tried at least a dozen times to contact three different people at the company by phone and email with zero communication. They also have a brand new drive I gave them to copy data on to. Really a shame, I trusted this company to recover data and find this is the situation nearly a year later with still no reply. It will be a good day if I can edit this review to something more positive until then I highly recommend finding another recovery service. If you do find one, please reply here as every single one I've looked at in the area is sketchy.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. Took a WD hard drive that had fallen off a desk to them, they said there was a 100% chance of recovering some of the data, and an 80% chance of recovering all of it, and that it would require a $900 deposit, and an additional $150 when the job was complete in 3 - 4 weeks. A couple weeks after giving them the deposit and the drive, an additional $500 charge from Synergy appeared on my credit card without my knowledge or consent. I spent the next several weeks trying to get in contact with someone, anyone. Finally, I was contacted by someone who said they were having trouble with my drive, but would process the refund for the unauthorized charge. Two months later, still no refund. I went to their office, which is not really an office at all. Synergy does not even lease space there, it's just a drop-off/pick-up location. A couple months after all this started, they returned my device to me via USPS, in pieces, but still no refund. The only reason I'm giving one star is to get the review posted. SYNERGY IS A COMPLETE RIP-OFF!

Absolutely AMAZING! Used this company for a Western Digital hard drive which was dropped on concrete floor and we also used them a second time for a Synology NAS which went out over a holiday weekend. They got every single file we had and then some including long ago deleted data that we weren’t even looking for. Our IT guy said it was ruined beyond repair and Synergy still got it ALL. Fully recommend! 11 out of 10.

Horrible communication. I had to ask several times what was going on. A lot of unknown.. No response to emails. Total Scam do not use this business... I spent almost 2k. Whether or not something is unsuccessful communication to your customer is so important. But to have all my data lost, have no communication for almost 4 months unless I asked… to still not knowing what really happened from my last email almost a year later.. I’m out my data and 2k, a horrible experience overall. I will suggest someone go elsewhere. Don’t waste your hope here.
