personal situation: my ReadyNAS NV+ v2 where a faulty drive failed during rebuild/resync process; system was configured with their proprietary XRAID2 a complex combination of various RAID configurations that allows users to use drives of different sizes while maintaining single disk redundancy across four drives. I personally attempted to recover system and may have further messed up the RAID configuration in the process. an employee dedicated many hours of hard work and troubleshooting to untangle incredibly complex issue using both the failed drive and their expertise to decode the confusing RAID setup. in the end they managed to recover all my data. i’m absolutely amazed and beyond grateful.
